Molino Lorca, Montefrio, Granada, Spain

Molino Lorca

Entrance to the Mill

Nestling in a valley between hills of olive groves, Molino Lorca is a large restored mill located midway between the historic old town of Montefrio and the bustling agricultural town of Huétor Tájar in the Vega de Granada. The area is known as El Poniente Granadino, in the west of Granada Province.  To the north and south, olive covered hills and river valleys run down to the vega (central plain) which is an area rich in agriculture and famous for the growing of asparagus. The main town is Loja, sometimes called the City of Water due to its many natural springs and fountains. Loja has a long history and was an important city during the Moorish occupation.

Molino Lorca offers versatile accommodation in the old mill and the former stables which are divided by a central, gated courtyard. In total there are 10 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 4 lounges, 2 dining rooms, 4 kitchens and an office area/library. The total floor area is around 450 square metres. The property has been restored in a contemporary rustic style and retains most of its original features. It has mains electricity and water is provided by a private, natural spring.

The plot is about 5,000 square metres, mostly planted with olive trees but there are also fig, peach and pomegranate trees. It is bordered by the River Velano which flows all year. The property has excellent access from the road but is very private.

The ground floor can be used as a very spacious one bedroom apartment. On the first floor there are four bedrooms and on the second floor 3 bedrooms.

Steve and Tony, the owners, have put Molino Lorca on the market for only 495000 euros. A very reasonable price considering the size, facilities, condition and location of the property. It would make an ideal permanent or holiday home for a large/extended family or a base from which to offer special interest holidays for small groups e.g. painting, walking, cookery, natural health and virtually any idea you can think of. The property is currently rented to groups throughout the summer and is only available for viewings on Saturdays (changeover day) until the autumn.
